Introduction Blogging is a great way to share news, updates, and insights on your website. This guide will walk you through creating, formatting, and publishing a new blog post in WordPress, using simple steps and screenshot placeholders.
1. Log In to Your Dashboard
Open your browser and go to
yourwebsite.com/wp-admin
.Enter your Username and Password, then click Log In.
2. Navigate to the Posts Section
In the left-hand menu, click Posts.
Click Add New at the top.
3. Enter Your Post Title and Content
Click in the Add title field and type your post title (e.g., "5 Tips for Better SEO").
In the Content area, add text, images, or other blocks:
Click the + icon to choose a block type (Paragraph, Heading, Image, List, etc.).
Type your content or drag and drop images.
4. Format Your Post
Use heading blocks (H2, H3) to break up sections for readability.
Add lists, quotes, and images to make your post engaging.
Use the Block toolbar that appears above each block for alignment, formatting, and links.
5. Add Categories and Tags
In the right sidebar, ensure the Document tab is selected.
Categories: Check relevant categories or click Add New Category.
Tags: Enter keywords separated by commas (e.g.,
SEO, blogging, marketing
).
6. Set a Featured Image
In the sidebar, find Featured Image.
Click Set featured image, upload/select an image, and click Set featured image.
7. Configure Additional Settings (Optional)
Excerpt: Add a custom summary that appears on archives and search results.
Discussion: Enable or disable comments and trackbacks.
Permalink: Edit the URL slug if desired.
8. Save, Preview, and Publish
Click Save draft to save your work without publishing.
Click Preview and choose Preview in new tab to see how it looks.
When you’re ready, click the blue Publish button, then Publish again to confirm.
9. Share Your Post
After publishing, copy the post URL or click View Post.
Share the link on social media or in newsletters to attract readers.
